for Kobun, for Maya

It's hard to see what happens, what doesn't.
In longing for confirmation, for continuance,
we avert our attention from
the inexplicable,
the unexpected,
the Mysteries.
Let's not say what Kobun was, or wasnt.
Let's wait a few centuries, take our time, as he did.
This pain may seem endless, it will vanish.
As all joys have their cessation.
May we not attach to either,
or attach to learning detachment, too well.
May we not run from our self
by running to something other.

Someone said, "He left many students hanging."
I see many pheasants hung in cool stone cellars.
Their iridescent feathers, beautiful.
Being readied for a Feast,
Many thanks.
