Dad's Band, The Oregon Blue Mountain Boys 1953. Dad Played mandolin and fiddle. I was playing a triple neck Magnatone. My next guitar was a Fender 400
1961 through 1979 I lived in Eugene. Played bass and steel with The Money Trio mostly in public clubs two or three nights a week. Had much fun with Mitch and Bonnie.
Ranch Dressing was pure thrills. We played mostly Bob Wills music and when the three fiddles kicked off Faded Love, tears would come to my eyes. What a pleasure to be in this band. All members except me were jazz musicians, I had to play my ass off to keep up.
Ranch Dressing entered the Marlboro Country Music Competition and came in second. I am top row center. Fiddler Bus Boyk, in black hat, toured with Ray Price. Rebecca Kilgore, far right, was lead singer and has a killer jazz voice.
In 1956 Willie Nelson hired the Powder River Ramblers to back him on Portland TV station KLOR for an hour show. At the time Willie was a DJ on radio station KVAN in Vancouver, Washington. He paid the band with checks that bounced. I kept mine and in 1983 or so a musician friend, Jim Rose, presented Willie with the check. Willie wrote a note on the back of it and it is my claim to fame. Willie offered to honor it, but I turned him down. The check is in a safe deposit box for future reference.
The Powder River Ramblers played several gigs with Willie and this Handbill is from the 1956 Portland Rose Festival. We played for a few hours at the Bud Meadows Auto dealership. Notice The Ramblers billing above Willie's. On his KVAN radio show Willie was known as "Texas Willie Nelson". In a year or two Willie would leave Portland and as they say, "The rest is history".
Easy Country was the name of this group, we played the Fraternal Club circuit and backed the Hagar Twins here at the Silverton Elks Club in 1996. I was the only lead and the trusty IVL Steelrider allowed piano and other sounds to break up the steel stuff.
In Portland I was an engineer at KATU TV until retirement in 2001. This is in the remote truck of James Media, at a Merle Haggard, Randy Travis, Charlie Pride and Gretchen Wilson concert in 2006. We supplied video to 3 big screens.
While at KATU, Occasionally I would pose for TV Guide adds.
The above pic is for a live show we did with Garth Brooks at a local Country Music Club. This is the background for the add but I lost the completed picture with the graphics. However the MSA looks very cool.

The Redfield Trio Played many a gig in Eugene and the surrounding areas. Here we are at the Lane County Fair. Rod Ham, Drummer, is currently playing Bass for Connie Smith and can be seen on the Grande Ole Opry when Connie is guest.
