Portland Jazz Jams started out as the West Side Jazz Jam and evolved to this site supporting jazz in Portland and beyond.
The Jazz Society of
Oregon has detailed information, and venue listings, for the Portland (and Oregon)
jazz scene. The Portland Dixieland Jazz Society
has information for those interested in more traditional swing and jazz.
Portland hosts several jazz venues worth visiting.
Jimmy Maks, in downtown Portland at
221 NW 10th Ave. (between Davis and Everett), is rated one of the 100 best jazz venues
nationwide by Downbeat Magazine and
regularly hosts local and nationally known musicians.
The Blue Monk, at 3314
SE Belmont, also hosts many local musicians.
LV's Uptown Jazz and Eats,
located at 310 SW Lincoln, showcases the finest Northwest jazz duos and trios on Friday and Saturday nights from 7-10pm
with no cover charge. A Jazz Brunch on Sundays is also available.

provides an interesting historical account of the Portland jazz scene. A must read!
