How to use the list

To subscribe, unsubscribe, or get a listing of who's on the list, e-mail majordomo@aracnet.com: the subject line is unimportant (it's ignored), and the commands listed below are put in the message body:

subscribe lawhead
Subscribes you to the list.
subscribe lawhead other@email.adr
Subscribes you to the list using other@email.adr as your address. Use this when you want to subscribe with a different address than you're mailing from. (i.e., you've got a school account, and a hotmail.com account; from your school account, you can specify your hotmail address.)
DO NOT use other@email.adr -- use your own address.
unsubscribe lawhead
Removes you from the list.
who lawhead
Sends you a list of who's on the list.
help
Sends you a listing of majordomo commands.

There are a few other features of the Lawhead list:

FAQ
You can have a copy of the FAQ e-mailed to you, if you have problems seeing it at http://www.aracnet.com/~petercj/srl/FAQ.html
Send e-mail to petercj AT aracnet.com with subject line "Lawhead: Get FAQ" (don't use the quotes). [Sorry, spam-harvest protection: replace " AT " with "@" (no quotes)]
Mailing List Archives
The past few months of e-mail messages are stored on the list website at http://www.aracnet.com/~petercj/srl/archives.html.
If you have trouble getting at the website, try the e-mail interface: send e-mail to petercj AT aracnet.com, choosing a subject line from the following list:
Lawhead: Grab ARC yymm
Grab a list of Subject lines and FILENAMEs available in the archive. The yymm code is as follows: November 1996 would be 9611, March 1999 will be (if the list lasts that long without a complete overhaul [It appears that it did... so, it overhauled some... but the instructions are still valid.]) 9903. Thus, "Lawhead: Grab ARC 9601" will get you the list of subject lines from the first month of the list's existence. Once you know the FILENAME of the message you think you might want, go on to
Lawhead: Grab File FILENAME
Grabs the specific message referenced by FILENAME. To avoid header problems, it will prepend every line with "+ ". Other than that, you'll see the message as it was originally sent via the list. This is a great way to catch up on articles during a time when your system was bouncing mail.
SRL list special request
For large numbers of files, it will be cumbersome to issue individual commands to the list. The web interface is useful for bulk requests, or just ask me for one or more entire months' worth of messages. (Don't forget to tell me which months. ;-) )
