I read Bert Wilsons letter, and having been there, he is not kidding. The detonation seemed to pick the ship up and slam it down again. It broke lightbulbs and knocked paint off the bulkheads in the AE shop which was located off the hanger deck on the aft starboard side. I think the weapon was an ASROC nuclear torpedo, but I'm not sure. The day before, we also witnessed the first firing of a nuclear missile from a submerged submarine.

Any questions, let me know
