Greetings;
I just discovered your web site this morning, and am very impressed with the content.
I am a retired navy vet, retiring in 1978 as Chief Radioman (E7). I was involved in Operation Dominic in 1962 onboard the USS Samuel N. Moore (DD747) based out of Long Beach, CA (Little Beaver Squadron).

It was strange to not see any entries on your web site that included the USS Samuel N Moore.
After reading several of your emails and entries, I thought it would be fitting to submit my information.
Best I can remember, we were involved in one or two air burst detonations near Christmas Island. I do not remember any attached names to the tests, if there were any. | Photo from Gary D. Wilkinson Click on image for larger view. |
Two years ago (June 1998) I had some minor surgery to remove some Melanoma on my left forearm & wrist. I also was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma of the left kidney. On 7/2/98 I had my left kidney taken out (left radical nephrectomy for a pT3 N0M0 renal cell carcinoma). I have had annual tests, CT Scans, X-rays and so far I have had a clean bill of health.
I have no idea where the cancerous tumor on my kidney came from, but it sure caused some discomfort in my lower back and moved to the lower left side of my back when it was first discovered. There was no link to my skin cancers (melanoma) on my left arm, since the biopsies showed no spread. It makes me wonder if all this could be linked to the nuclear test we were involved in.
Anyway, great web site and keep up the great work.
