Notices & News November
1998

This website contains stories from veterans of Operation Ivy. These men were all US Air Force weathermen stationed on the island of Eniwetok, 1952. They were witnesses to the detonation of Mike, the first of the giant thermonuclear explosions, and King, the largest fission weapon ever fired. Many of these weathermen were also present at later atomic tests in the Pacific Proving grounds.

They were reunited in the present day by the efforts of Harold Wainscott. Harold publishes the hard copy newsletter "The Wetokian" for this group of atomic veterans. At present there are about 35 members.

Subject: NAAV DATA BASE
Date: Thu, 19 Nov 1998

There are many Atomic Veteran weather men who haven't requested the Medical Data Questionnaire from the National Association for Atomic Veterans.

Completed questionnaires are used to build a data base for the NAAV. The information gathered will be used in the struggle to provide help for Atomic Veterans. You must know of the past difficulty some have had in proving radiation related diseases.

If all of us unite as a group, we will have some assurance VA claims will be handled in a consistent, fair, and proper manner.

This call goes out to all Vets who read this and have had service related exposure to radiation under duty conditions.

This notice will be repeated in the hard copy winter issue of The Wetokian.

Request your questionnaire from;
