Scott Cannon writing for the Kansas City Star about uncertanities in making sure that weapons in the aging nuclear stockpile are kept in working order.

"... at 3 p.m. the next day Hester passes close to Eniwetok. Winds of over 70 knots are reported from the island. Extensive damage is suffered as buildings collapse, injuries are inflicted, a small boat is wrecked. No major injuries are reported, but there are 18 minor casualties."
