I served with VP-872 back in the 60s on Christmas Island. I was 20 years old at the time of deployment. I'm from Walla Walla Washington and I had a mole removed from my back, in the 1980s at the Walla Walla Veterans Hospital. The Doctor didn't like the looks of it.

I served with VP-872 as Storekeeper, AKAN. I was in the advanced party to Christmas Island and there for 3 months. I then served with VP-9, who was the squadron that replaced VP-872 and I stayed state side while they were there for 3 months.

I'm sending you some pictures of the Island and the terrain and lagoons, barracks, etc.

The pictures of the bomb blasts were the first ones taken before they x-rayed the mail leaving the Island, and told us that pictures were not allowed.
