I have tried to find other shipmates but have not been successful.
You asked about the U.S.S.Carlson DE9: , the ship was named after Daniel
William Carlson, Chief Machinist, after he lost his life on June 6, l942 when
his ship the USS Hammann was torpedoed in the vicinity of Midway Island. The
Carlson did extensive escort duties throughout the Pacific in 1944-45 at
which time I was aboard. We arrived April 1, l945 off Okinawa in the morning
with a convoy of assult ships. We were in task group 30.8 and 38 during the
campaign. My duties at that time were as a baker.
I now live in Minnesota.
