I served on the YW 92 (a small water ship) during both Able and Baker.

The YW 92 was a yard water ship. Our job was to receive water from the USS Wildcat (a larger water ship) and deliver to the various target ships in the area which had a small crew aboard prior to each test.

Shortly after Test Able I was put in the hospital on Kwajalein because of an infection on the face. Shortly after Test Baker I was again put in the Naval Hospital in Oakland Calif with Spinal Meningitis. I have never filed for benefits from radiation however, I do receive compensation from the meningitis.

Thanks

Willie Mixson
