Sirs:

I served aboard the LST 388 at Bikini during Able and Baker tests and we brought all of the equipment, towers vehicles, and what ever was left from the tests from the Island back to San Francisco.

This LST at the time was known as the floating beer barge and daily we would take trucks loaded with Bud for the fleet to consume. Quite a duty for a 1/c Ship Fitter.

As we approached the Bridge We were told that we were to "Hot" and had to stay out of the harbor until everything was washed down.

I'm lucky I have a couple short snorters for operation Crossroads.
