Dear Keith,
I would like to thank you for producing such a
wonderful site. There is a wealth of information
available here. I have had colon cancer which spread
to my liver and now possibly to my lungs since 1997.
One day I was browsing thru the internet and came upon
your site. Let me tell you how valuable it has been.
While browsing thru the e-mails it clicked that my
cancer could very well have come from the Dominic
testing.
I was a communication electronic technician
on the USS Jenkins DDE-447 which participated in the
Johnston Isand test shots. I recalled a particular
shot, which I have determined from CIC records in Las
Vegas, to be Starfish. We were allowed on deck but
were told to look away from the blast. We were never
issued any monitoring devices.
I also recall anchoring
in the harbor at Johnston Island and having swim call.
If I had only known then what I know now.
I have filed my claim with the DOJ and am now
waiting. Many thanks to fellow vet Larry Craig who
assisted me. I wonder how many vets out there know
that colon cancer was added to the RECA list of
presumptive cancers. I hope they all know it.
I have
also contacted my congressman and urged him to support
the changes outlined in the Veterans Enhancement Act
of 2000.
Again many thanks for a wonderful and informative web
site.
