My name is Fred Martin and I served aboard the USS DeHaven, DD727, as an SK2 during Operation Hardtack in 1958. I remember most of the test, particularly the shot from Johnston Island. Also remember escorting a small sail boat with three people aboard out of the test area to Kwajelein. Worked SP duty on the recreation island, Baker I believe, and have many memories of the problems faced in that assignment. That was on Eniwetok, I think. Could have been Bikini. Whatever, the memories are still vivid. The HAM radio set up on the beach where I was able to talk to my girlfriend who was graduating from high school. We will be married 41 years this December. What I would really like is to have a ships roster for the DeHaven for that period. Maybe someone out there could help me with that. One old shipmate, James Leggett, is a member and I only recently found him.

Good luck to you in your endeavor.
Fred Martin
