I was in communications with the 232nd Signal Co. (support), located out of Ft. Huachuca Az. We were assigned to NTS, from May to September, 1957.

We furnished radio and other support. In addition, I believe the AEC was monitoring different frequencies to see the effect they may have on their triggering devices. Most of the group stayed in quonset huts at Camp Desert Rock, while some had off base housing in Las Vegas.

The rememberances of the NTS I have include; how God awful hot it got in the quonset huts, and how much it was appreciated when some of us were able to spend time in a trailer court in North Las Vegas, swimming pool included. Not your typical military housing!!!!!! The absolute beauty of the mushroom clouds and the rushing of the sound waves coming across the desert floor, kicking up dust, knowing the devastation these bombs have brought and could continue to bring, if some semblace of sanity could not be reached in the world community. Other things come to mind including, having an opportunity to see some of the shows on the strip, and wondering why I didn't buy 20 acres of desert beyond the Tropicana in 1957. Some of my friends have passed, and I wonder if any of them was the result of the many detonations that occured while we were assigned to Camp Desert Rock.

Thank You
