I was on the USS Navasota AO 106, 1955 through 1958. I was a 19 year old Pipefitter 2 in 1956. I was a Pipefitter 3rd in the Cargo and Repair gang on the Navasota during Redwing. We took geiger counter readings after the blasts and while on security watch. We used fire hose to wash down hot spots, mostly rusty areas on well decks. I think we had a decontamination by Engineering Division berthing. I remember the warm beer the Army? served on Bikini.
Twenty years later I worked for Northern States Power Company's nuclear generating plant in Redwing Minnesota.
