EN.3 Donald F. Gray
USS. Tawakoni ATF 114
Operation Castle

As an engineman, I spent most of the time in the engine room below deck, so I was not exposed as much as some others. I remember at least once, I was required to trade my film-badge for a dosemeter, dress out in protective clothing and help wash down the deck of one of the old oil barges, that they are calling Hall and Eastman. At least I know how they were decontaminated.

I am attaching a historical record of USS Tawakoni ATF114 during Operation Castle.

I had a good friend named Joseph John Nedelkovich, from Yakima, WA. If you can find him he may have better recollections than I..If you do please tell him hello for me.
