Fred Gear

Fred Gear sent email about his duty at Operation Crossroads. He has excellent information about the USS George Clymer.

I served on the USS George Clymer APA 27, we received the crews from the USS Nevada and USS Pennsylvania. We tied along side Nevada after the first atomic bomb drop.

USS George Clymer

The ships namesake was George Clymer, born in Philadelphia, PA, 16 March 1739, was a Philadelphia merchant and prominent American patriot. He was among the first to advocate complete Independence from Great Britain.

He became a member of the Pennsylvania Committee of Correspondence in 1774 and was elected to the Continental Congress, serving as one of two treasurers from July 1775 to August 1776. He signed the Declaration of Independence 2 August 1776.

I have received one inquiry from a shipmate John Strozier ref my health. He was having problems unspecified but did remind me about our hair falling out.

Is there any way I could get a copy of organizational chart of joint task force one?

I retired in 1968 after 24 years with SHCS. I am retiring from the police department the 31st of December 1997. I didn't want to retire but my physical condition demands. I have an appointment at the VA next year, but don't expect any assistance from VA or Medicare.
