Subject: Atomic Vets.
I saw your site on Atomic Vets...Was very interested since I was stationed
at Johnston Island for most of the shots..including the failures..Don't
have the exact dates handy but I know it was most of the first part of 62
and maybe some of late 61..
I was in the Air Force and TDY out of Hickham for almost a year there...I
was a wire communications tech, and helped install most of the lines in
preparation for the tests...
I have no related medical problems that I am aware of...only strange thing
is that I had always had real dark, almost black eyes.. and after a couple
of years they turned a green!!!!
I would be very interested in contacting any other vets that may have been
there at that time.
I have all of my military stuff in storage and will try and dig it out
in the next few weeks.... I have a aerial photo of the Island taken just before
things got going and a couple of pictures taken out of my barracks window of the
Nikes and other rockets lined up along the runway..
