My name is Gerald Feutz. I served in the Navy from 1952 till 1956. I served aboard the USS Comstock the entire time. I was in Korea from November 1952 till the cease fire. We also went to "Indo China" hauling some gun boats to the French. Hauled a river Dredge to Whittier Alaska, and was in Operation "Wigwam", an underwater device of some 30 kilotons, so I was told. I never talked very much about it to anyone. I really don't know much about the test itself since we were never told much. I remember towing a lot of the barges to the site from San Diego. The weather was bad all the way to the test site. The test was delayed a couple of time due to bad weather. I was on watch in the port fireroom at the time of the detonation. All I can remember is two shock waves, the direct wave from the blast, and the reflected wave off the bottom a few seconds later. Things shook a little, but that's about all I recall. My rank was boilerman second class There are a lot of places we also went , but are too numerous to mention. The ship was an LDS Number 19.
