| 0835 "How Hour" First Stage: a brief flash and a swift growing cloud of cottony smoke or mist | About one minute later (sound is heard) 2nd stage: cloud top rises to several thousand feet, spreads rapidly,"stem of mushroom" is huge water column, white cloud across surface of lagoon. |
| Another minute later: 3rd stage: mushroom cloud climbs to about 5,000 ft. base cloud grows bigger. Water column still flowing water into the cloud
| A few minutes later: 4th stage: RAIN! A heavy, dark rain obscured the atoll and lagoon. Lasted for over an hour. |
