Hi Keith,
Frank Bushey giving you a shout. I Changed ISP this Summer and got a
new email address. I sent out the change and hadnšt heard from an Atomic
Veteran Išve emailed since that time. I got his phone number from the white
pages and called. I got his wife and she said that her husband. Gary L.
Hughes had passed away this Summer.
Gary was in my Company, Baker Co. 1st Battallion 8th Marines out of
Camp Lejuene, N.C. We were at Shot Badger, of the Upshot-Knotehole Series.
I never met Gary, but by the way he corresponded with me, I could tell
he was a very fine man.
Another Atomic Veteran has gone to his reward.
I just started my 70th year in life, and have beaten the odds, thanks
to modern Technology.
Best regards, Frank

Hi Keith,
Have you any more info on the below up-coming program? I've been
looking at the A&E program daily scheduling since mid Sept. This hasn't been
aired yet, has it?
I'm still battling the VA, Since filing for Prostate cancer in Nov. of
97, and Colon cancer in March of 98, I have received a letter from my doctor
stating that my heart disease certainly could have been brought on by being
exposed to atomic testing. I've opened a claim for that in Feb. of this
year.I filed a claim with the VA for heart disease in 1982 and was finally
denied in 1985 for this. There is more out there now on low level ionizing
radiation and it's correlation to heart disease. Also, after reading what is
out there on the internet on PTSD, I found I have many symptoms of this
illness and I filed a claim for that in March of this year.
The only thing I have a denial on so far is Prostate cancer. I plan on
taking this one all the way, as well as all the others, more then likely.
Have you seen the re-study report on the NAS 5 series report yet? You
probably have, but if not, it's on the NAS web site now. I'm wondering how
they broke down this study. By series or individual tests? We had a little
over 1600 Marines in the Badger test. My outfit, the 2nd battalion 8th Mar.
regiment, got a heavy dose of Gamma radiation caused by an unexpected wind
shift and were stopped after proceeding 500 yards towards GZ.
Please answer when you have time, and thanks for keeping up the good
work for a cause that should have been addressed and taken care of many
moons ago by our government.
Yours in Comradeship,
Frank Bushey
PS I had my first heart attack at age 40, both coronary arteries were
completely plugged (the only thing keeping me alive was collateral blood
flowing around the arteries), was triple by-passed at age 41 and again at
age 62

Subject: info needed
Gentlemen,
My name is Frank Bushey. I'm a former Marine who served in the
Corps from 1/02/52 to 1/03/55. I was assigned to B Co, 2nd. Battalion, 8th
Marines, of the 2nd Marine Division. Our unit participated in shot [BADGER]
in the Upshot - Knothole series on April 18, 1953.
Within the last year, I have gone through two major cancer operations, one for a radical
prostectomy and the other one for a cancerous tumor in the colon. I have recently filed a claim with the VA. Would you forward me any data that you have that might be important to my case?
Sincerely,
Frank Bushey
