Subject: List of Presumptive Cancers
To: pdxavets@aracnet.com
Dear Keith:
I have just read "page one" of your family histories. I am appalled at
the number of descriptions regarding relatives' cancers and deaths. Some of
those are covered under P.L. 100-321, and P.L. 102-578. Please
print the following asap:
EXISTING PRESUMPTIVE CANCERS IN P.L.100-321 AND P.L. 102-578.
- Leukemia (except chronic lymphocytic)
- Thyroid
- Breast
- Pharynx
- Esophagus
- Stomach
- Small intestine
- Pancreas
- Multiple Myeloma
- Non-Hodgkins lymphomas
- Bile duct
- Gallbladder
- Primary liver
- Salivary gland
- Urinary tract (ureters, urethra, bladder, kidney)
The most prevalent cancers suffered by our guys is lung, colon, brain. That
is why I'm so anxious to get letters and phone calls to everyone's
representatives. If we can get those added to the presumptive list (above), we'll be
helping many widows and avets.
P.L. 100-321 was enacted in 1988 and P.L. 102-578 in 1992. If qualified
under the above, it is not necessary to obtain a dose reconstruction. This
is extremely urgent in that if qualified retroactive benefits to date of enactment of the law would
be quite substantial. In the above list, all but the last two were under
100-321, and the last two, salivary gland and urinary tract under 102-578.
The first 13 are also in RECA, the lump sum law, $75,000, which is more
difficult to qualify under, but not impossible.
Please advise the respondents to get in touch with their nearest
DAV rep for help.
