The officers and men of the USS Boxer take pleasure in this opportunity to welcome you aboard this proud ship. It is our sincere desire that you will find your stay both interesting and enjoyable to help it make it so, the following notes have been prepared:
1. Berthing. Upon your arrival on board, either by boat or helo, it is requested that you check in with your mustering officer who will be located at a table placed on the hanger deck near the middle of the ship. Upon completion of checking in you will be escorted by enlisted guides to the berthing space/ cabin / cot you will occupy while on board. Since there will be approximately 1100 passengers reporting on board it is requested that you not request the services of the guide other than to show you to your berthing space. However if further directions are needed, any Boxer man will be glad to show you around.
2. Meals. The general mess line forms on the third deck at frame 126 and meals will be served at the following times: Breakfast -- 0500 to 0800; Lunch -- 1100 to 1300; Dinner -- 1600 to 1800. For those eating in the Officer's Wardroom, meals are served at the following times: Breakfast -- 0530 to 0830; Lunch -- 1200; Dinner -- 1700 to 1900. 3. Smoking Regulations. The fire hazard on a ship is ever present, and this is particularly so aboard a carrier because of the large quantities of high octane gasoline carried aboard. Smoking is never permitted on the flight deck or on the hangar deck, nor in exposed spaces adjacent thereto. Certain shops, storerooms and areas near fuel vents are also restricted. If in doubt whether or not you may smoke, just ask someone. When the word is passed, "The smoking lamp is out," no smoking is permitted except in those specifically authorized at the time, if any. Smoking is permitted after announcing, "The smoking lamp is lighted in all authorized spaces."
4. Viewing of Test. Those persons viewing the shot should be up on the forward end of the flight deck 45 minutes prior to zero time or else you're way will be blocked by "condition ZEBRA", a material readiness condition whereby hatches and watertight doors are closed, leaving it impossible to travel from deck to deck. Safety rules for the Teak Shot are as follows:
a. ZEBRA condition, hangar deck and above.
b. Uniform for all exposed personnel will be regulation long sleeve shirt and long trousers. It is recommended that personnel subceptible to sunburn use suntan lotion on exposed skin areas.
c. Turn away and cover eyes with hands or put on goggles at H minus 3 minutes. After burst wait at least 10 seconds before viewing burst. In event of no detonation at H hours do not remove goggles or face around until advised of shot status.

e, No radioactive fall-out or adverse blast effects are expected.

Besides those so marked there are various machinery, gunnery, electronic spaces, as well as galleys and pantries that you should stand clear of, so as not to injure yourself or hinder the work being carried on.
