Do you have any information about nuclear maneuvers conducted by A Company, 1st Battle Group, 12th Infantry, 4th Infantry Division during the summer of 1962? The 4th Division was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington at that time.

I was a member of that unit at that time and we were given the mission to fire the "David Crockett Mortar." We were in trenches near ground zero, mounted M113 APC's which carried us to detonation area where we dismounted and maneuvered through the detonation area on foot.

Both Bobby Kennedy and Robert McNamara witnessed the maneuvers in which I participated as a young 2d Lieutenant.

I have subsequently had a multitude of health problems including Melanomas and Basil Cell Carcinomas. There is no history of this in my family except me and I am curious whether this may have contributed of my illnesses.
