I am Jimmie O. Beasley. I was on board the USS Belle Grove LSD 2, during Operation Hardtack in 1958. I was a seamen then assigned to the 1st division. I spent a lot of time painting, have done little of that since.HA HA.

I can remember bits and pieces now was it was a long time ago. MOST, remembered incident was the shot late at night around 2300, S.W. of Johnson Island. They had us set condition Yoke. All lights out in our compartment. We were at Ground Zero minus something! When the thing went off, IT lit up our compartment with a faint PINK hue! I never did know where light came from, others said at the time ,"Came through the bulkheads."

I Never did say much before as people thought you were nut's.!!

I also belong to the Belle Grove Association. I don't know if you have heard of us?

Glad to see some of us still around.
