May 27, 1999--A new message from our Legislative Advisor:Pat Broudy HR 1286 and Wellstone News.

May 27, 1999--Mike Ferrell was in the Task Group 7.3 Boat Pool and served on an LCM during Operation Hardtack.

May 27, 1999--H.J.C. Nottelmann was a Canadian participant at Operation Teapot. His daughter Sharon Morrison sent pictures of his Teapot certificate, a newspaper article and a picture of the Apple 2 detonation.

May 27, 1999--Robert Bridgman served on the San Marcos LSD 25 at Operation Crossroads.

May 5, 1999--Eamon Gonzalez was assigned to the Deck Division aboard the USS Curtiss during Operation Greenhouse.

May 5, 1999--Wetok Dogs cartoon posted to the Wetokian Website.

May 4, 1999--Larry Craig, Sog2, USS Preston, DD 795, participated in the Swordfish detonation at Operation Dominic.


May 1, 1999--Two new articles posted to the Spring Issue of the Wetokian Website. The Dogs of Eniwetok and Samson's Domain.

April 28, 1999--WW II -- Battle of Eniwetok, a summary of Admiral Nimitz report to Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Fleet, 3 June 44.

April 28, 1999--Steve (Harry) Harrison was attached to B. Co. 84th ENGR's for the Clean-Up at Enewetak Atoll.

April 28, 1999--George Carr served on the USS New York as part of Task Group CTU 1.2.12 Ammunition Disposal at Operation Crossroads.

April 26, 1999--Elmer Cole served as Quartermaster of the watch on the Cree ATF 84 during Operation Wigwam.

April 26, 1999--New articles posted for the Spring Issue of the Wetokian Website. Included is a Memorial, Island Dogs article, new mail and a picture of the old freighter on Japtan.

April 21, 1999--John Medynski served as a radioman aboard the USS Munsee at Operation Hardtack

April 20, 1999--Joseph J. (Jim) Parrock was a 2nd Class Radarman on board the USS Belle Grove at Operation Castle.

April 19, 1999--John Facella was with VS-21 on board the USS Wright at Operation Wigwam

April 10, 1999--Attention All Veterans - News Alert The ABC News magazine 20/20 is planning a report specifically about veterans whose benefits have been denied because of missing records, especially those records which were lost in a 1973 fire at the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

If you have any information you'd like to share with ABC 20/20 specifically regarding denied benefits due to missing or destroyed records, please contact DAV National Service and Legislative Headquarters, 807 Maine Avenue, S.W., Washington, D.C. 20024. The deadline for submitting this information is April 30, 1999.

April 10, 1999--Dennis Smith was a crew member aboard the USS Henry County (LST 824) and part of the clean-up crew for the the Thor launch pad fire.

April 9, 1999-- Myron (Willie) Williams was stationed with the 125th Signal Bn, 25th Inf Div., on Christmas Island.

April 6, 1999--Joe Henderson was the USAF action officer for the radiological cleanup of Enewetak.

April 4, 1999--Posted new email to the Wetokian Website, including NAAV's' Medical Data Base attempting to locate the whereabouts of 28 USAF and 3 US Army personnel who were on Rongerik Island during and after Shot Bravo of Operations Castle.


March 30, 1999--David Jordan served on the Cumberland Sound AV-17 at Operation Crossroads.

March 29, 1999--M.H. "Mo" Ingram was a Supply Specialist on Eniwetok during Operation Greenhouse.

March 29, 1999--Bill Hight served aboard the USS Chanticleer ASR-7 as a a DC-3(DV) during Operation Hardtack.

March 25, 1999--Gene Joines was a maintenance S/Sgt with the 514th Weather Recon Squadron during Operation Sandstone. He sent several photos of his crew and their B-29.

March 22, 1999--William C. (Bill) Castan was aboard the heavy cruiser USS Wichita in Nagasaki harbor on Sept.9, l945.

March 20, 1999--Robert De Blasi served aboard the USS Rehoboth AGS50, as an Aerographers Mate, Operation Hardtack.

March 18, 1999--Dave Port stationed at Enewetak from January, 1979 to June, 1979 with the USAF radiation team for Operation Clean-Up.

March 17, 1999--Gerald Schultz an Air Force weatherman, during Operation Ranger and Operation Ivy passed away today.

March 16, 1999--Pete Gettys was stationed with the 1253D AACS Squadron and was an Airman 3rd class.

March 10, 1999--Operation Ranger section opens with a very good story by one of the few servicemen who were there, these tests were the first at the Nevada Proving Grounds.

March 10, 1999--Gerald Schultz an Air Force weatherman, watched the detonation of the largest device exploded during Operation Ranger

March 10, 1999--Bob Fitton, a duty signalman, served aboard the USS Philip DDE 498 sends details about his duty at Operation Castle.

March 8, 1999-- Edmund Sullivan was an 18 year old sailor onboard the USS Gilliam at Operation Crossroads

March 8, 1999--Billy Trippett was in Patrol Squadron 46 stationed at NAS North Island San Deigo Ca., attached to Fleet Air Wing 14, for Operation Dominic.

March 4, 1999--Eastern Oklahoma Atomic Veterans will be will be having a meeting on March 18th.

March 4, 1999--John C. Ekstadt was an MM3 stationed aboard the USS Curtiss during Operations Ivy and Castle.

March 4, 1999--Donald J. Koestler served as a radarman on the USS Monticello at Operation Hardtack.

March 2, 1999--Allen Aust was a MM3 onboard the USS Curtiss during Operations Greenhouse and Castle.
