GALILEO DETONATION

NEVADA TEST SITE

The 16th full-scale nuclear test of Operation Plumbbob, is detonated on a 500-foot tower in Yucca Flat. The shot, code named "Galileo, was fired at 5:40 a.m., PDT, and was predicted to be in the range of about half-nominal in explosive force."
