This may look dry to you, but to most Peace Corps Volunteers in flat, dry Niger, the beautiful village of Dossey is a sight for sore eyes with its lakes and hills. Of course the beauty comes with a price. You have to ride through sandy ruts to get to it, the lakes bring mosquitoes to the village year-round, and the eroding gully at the base of one of the hills is swallowing part of the village (see foreground). Still, I went there pretty often; it was only 70 km from Lawai.
