Math Mutation Podcast FAQ
Math Mutation Podcast FAQ
What is Math Mutation?
Math Mutation is a short podcast for people of all ages, where
we explore fun, interesting, or just plain wierd corners of
mathematics that you probably didn't hear in school. To listen, just
click on one of the links on the main page to download the MP3 file, or
subscribe to the to the RSS Feed to receive regular updates. My goal is to produce a short,
entertaining but informative podcast that you can add to your iPod
rotation.
If you have iTunes installed, this link will bring you directly to this podcast in iTunes.
What other podcasts influence you?
I think you can detect obvious influences from Podictionary, Matt's Today in
History, and Slacker
Astronomy. I hope that one day Math Mutation
may be worthy of such company.
What's the snippet of background music at the start & end?
That's "Sound Scientist" by Bill, one of my favorites of the
non-major-label "podsafe" bands.
Go to their website to check
out their full songs and buy the CD!
In Episode (nnn), you state "xxx". But that is not true in
12-dimensional non-Euclidean spaces where pi > 8. Thus you are a
moron; please stop podcasting inaccurate math.
Obviously, in a short podcast like this I'm trying to cover
interesting mathematical oddities that occur under common
assumptions. I fully accept that just about any axiom is untrue in
some obscure corner of mathematics. And of course, in a short podcast
format like this, I will often make approximations and not elaborate
on the details.
So to summarize: Yes, I'm a moron. But if you derive
entertainment value from pointing that out, keep listening!
