Actually, approprium, inapproprium and malaproprium are in the same column of the Periodic Table. Haven't you heard of the malogens?

Phil - we're high and dry (cross fingers), though we have had some flooding in our town. The local Target was an island in a lake for a day or so, and some of the bike paths through the city parks, and the nearby golf course, were under water, but the latter two are not really unusual occurrences. We've been spared the disasters to the east, though the farmers here have been adversely affected by the wet, nonetheless.
