OK, that's a very nice after picture, but what did it look like before you all vacationed there?

I forgot to take photos, but for the record, it was a lush, dense tropical forest.

Is that Bryce? I want to visit Bryce. I have a terrific Kodachrome postcard of it.
I wish there was a program or a website that listed various photogenic sites and their angles with respect to the sun at various times of year. That way you'd know, for example, that you weren't going to be getting dramatically-lit shots of Mono Lake at sunset.

It is indeed Bryce Canyon. As regards photogenicity, dawn/early morning would probably be the best time for photos of Bryce, but unfortunately in our case the weather did not cooperate, even though we were there overnight (it was the one time on the whole trip that we got rained upon – well, except for driving through Nebraska, and who cares what the weather is doing there, right? – as long as it's not lobbing funnel clouds at you).
