Somehow, I'd forgotten about this aspect of winter.
UPDATE. OK, that wasn't very interesting, was it? I suppose, since I'm stinking up the place so much, a word of explanation is in order. One recent weekend afternoon, during a champagne[1]-fuelled Deep Philosophical Discussion with M., I said... some fantastically witty thing or other, and M. said "You should write that on my blog", or maybe I said "I should write stuff on your blog" -- anyway, the upshot of it all is me, here, writing stuff on the blog. I suppose I add a shot of novice puppy-dog eagerness to M.'s arch, urbane sophistication. Or not. Anyway, if you've come here expecting 100% Moira, sorry to disappoint.
