I was sorry to hear the news of Robson Bonnichsen's death on Christmas Eve. Dr. Bonnichsen was one of the plaintiffs in the
Kennewick Man case, a leader in
"post-Clovis" research in North American archeology, and director of the
Center for the Study of the First Americans. Two of the news articles about his career can be found

here. (The latter article provides an anecdote illustrating disputes within his field: "
Bonnichsen clashed with [Oregon State University's] administration about funding, and his efforts to study Kennewick man drew the scorn of his own department on campus, mostly from cultural anthropologists who objected...".)
