Well, that's a new one. A bit of spam that got through the filter:

Your amazon.com order #131-736-3991 has shipped From:"ship-confirm@amazon.com"(ship-confirm@amazon.com) To: moira@moirabreen.com

Not only the bogus shipping confirmation cited in the subject line, but the use of "amazon.com" in the bogus address. Couldn't Amazon, ya know, sue the crap out of these people? Please?

spam sucks.

Amazon would have to find them and bother to spend the money, all the while knowing that it wouldn't stop the next guy from doing it.

Or they could just as easily be doing it from out of the country, possibly from somewhere where the local courts simply don't care what Amazon thinks.

Amazon probably just chose #1, knowing that it's not going to be worth the time, effort, and money to attempt punishment post-facto.

Suffice it to say, when I'm an iron-fisted world dictator, spammers will be crucified.

Did you check the full headers, do a whois on the relays, and forward copies to Amazon? That's a start, but I don't think that just wishing will actually achieve communication with them.

I'm actually very far even from the "wishful thinking" stage - no chance of going beyond "offhand whining" on this one. I'm with Sigivald - I'm sure Amazon wouldn't give a rat's ass, even if I had any idea where at Amazon to send the info. Also with Sig on the crucifixion notion.

Actually, I'd imagine Amazon would *love* to do something, but with these things the originating server is usually in Russia, China, South Korea, or something like that. They generally don't, how you say, give a shit.

I used to live there and they don't even have numbers. Oh, amazon--thought Nile.
Anyway, I also received a ship-confirm...and...it led me here, where I am asked my email and url...humm..what about checking my credit card number to pay freight on my free order?
