Well, do tell, Dip. I'm refraining from castigating you for being a moron in heading out all alone, as I completely understand the lure of solitude - solitude, reaching tree-line, just at sunrise. Aaaah. One of the most glorious experiences of my whole life was being alone on the trail up Long's Peak at just that hour at just that point, the clouds roiling on the Diamond Face. It felt as if one was in the abode of the gods. (Mind you, I was not really hiking alone. I was, as always, so much slower than my companions and they were way, way, up the trail. I was, functionally, alone. Being a shuffling asthmatic has its rewards.)
UPDATE: From the "learn something new everyday" file: while I was googling for images of Long's Peak, I came across a report stating that Tenzing Norgay was not really a Sherpa. This I did not know. Now I know.
