Right Sinister Derek Lowe has a fascinating post on one of those subjects that puzzled me mightlily in childhood, delighted me in chemistry and developmental biology classes, but flew off the radar in the press of years: how do we know right from left? (I think this first caught my attention because I perceived myself to be slower than the other children at knowing my right from my left, despite being 100% dextrous, albeit poindextrous.)

UPDATE: No, not that kind of poindexter. Poindexter in the classical sense, not this week's new, sinister sense.

Poindextrousness! Woowee.

Poor Admiral Poindexter! The man suffers from symptoms of dyslexia politica - indications include supporting leftist/statist means to assure protections of freedoms. Jonah Goldberg, William Safire, Andrew Sullivan and other 'conservatives' also suffer bouts now and then. So sad.

It can be cured by consuming a little less grog with the brekky. Besides, grog is a Canadian naval tradition. (see above)

No, no, no. "Poindextrous" as in "nerdly", not poindextrous as in Poindexter the Snoop.

Bad week to coin this adjective, eh?
