Originally home to many an American hippie dropout in the 60's and 70's, now smack dab in the middle of the heavily traveled "Gringo Trail".

While Jeff was away at Todos Santos for the drunken cowboy festival, I was enjoying the local festivities for All Saints Day. All Saints Day and Day of the Dead are celebrated back to back. The cemetary was beautifully adorned with flowers in commemoration of loved ones.
This is the famous All Saints Day celebration in Santiago where they fly hundreds of kites some as big as an elephant. These little indigenous girls represent what makes Guatemala such a special place - they always are so colorful.
There just so happened to be a cycling race in Guatemala while we were there. I went to the start of final stage race. 'Lo and behold, we were lucky to find a local pub (Manoloco) carrying tasty microbrews hand crafted in Guatemala City. Billy, American guy and half-owner, graciously allowed us to connect to the internet with his phone line (considering the volume of product we quaffed I'm sure it was also a prudent business decision).
