Thunderbird SMTP Authentication Configuration

When connected to the Internet from a non-SpiritOne Internet connection, or while using our Nationwide Dial-up service, connections to our outgoing mail server need to be authenticated, essentially "proving" to our mail server that you are a SpiritOne customer, and not a spammer.

These instructions will walk you through configuring Mozilla Thunderbird to authenticate with our SMTP server.

  1. In Thunderbird, click on the Tools menu and select Accounts.
  2. Click on Outgoing Server (SMTP) on the left.
  3. Select the SpiritOne outgoing mail server from the box and click on Edit.
  4. Check the Use Name and Password box.
  5. Enter your SpiritOne username in the User Name field.
  6. Hit OK.
  7. Hit OK to close the Accounts window.
  8. That's it!  You can now use Thunderbird to send email through the SpiritOne outgoing mail server.  Thunderbird will prompt you for your password the first time you try to send your email.

What are People Saying about SpiritOne?

"The reason I came to SpiritOne is that it was a small company that was geared to the individual that techies (unix and windows savvy) would love and my wife (the non-techie) could use the service."
