OS X Mail 1.3 SMTP Authentication Configuration
When connected to the Internet from a non-SpiritOne Internet connection, or while using our Nationwide Dial-up service, connections to our outgoing mail server need to be authenticated, essentially "proving" to our mail server that you are a SpiritOne customer, and not a spammer.
These instructions will walk you through configuring the OS X Mail program to authenticate with our SMTP server.
- On the dock, click on the Mail icon.
- Go to the Mail menu and select Preferences.
- Under Outgoing Mail, choose Server Settings.
- Change the pull-down menu next to Authentication to Password.
- Enter your SpiritOne username in the User Name box.
- Enter your password in the Password box.
- Hit OK.
- Close the Accounts window.
- That's it! You can now use the OS X Mail program to send email through the SpiritOne outgoing mail server.
