Netscape 6 & 7 SMTP Authentication Configuration

When connected to the Internet from a non-SpiritOne Internet connection, or while using our Nationwide Dial-up service, connections to our outgoing mail server need to be authenticated, essentially "proving" to our mail server that you are a SpiritOne customer, and not a spammer.

These instructions will walk you through configuring Netscape 6 or 7 to authenticate with our SMTP server.

  1. In Netscape, select Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings from the Edit menu (may be under the Tools menu.
  2. Select Outgoing Server (SMTP) on the left
  3. Check the Use Name and Password box.
  4. Enter your SpiritOne username in the User Name box.
  5. Hit OK.
  6. That's it!  You can now use Netscape 6 to send email through SpiritOne's outgoing mail server. Netscape will prompt you for your password the first time you try to send email.

What are People Saying about SpiritOne?

"I love the exceptional customer service and internet service SpiritOne provides. Customer service - The few times I have called the person I have talked to in tech support was an actual tech person who understood the problem, and there was no endless wait on the phone either. Internet service - just wonderful. I once called and asked if I could run servers from my connection and what the max bandwidth was. The answer was yes, you can run your own servers and there is no limit from your computer. Wow! I haven't used much bandwidth or run my own servers but that is the company for me.
