Zoom X6 Transparent Bridged Configuration

These configuration instructions will guide you through configuring your Zoom X6 modem to provide access for a single computer (transparent bridging), with the IP address assigned by SpiritOne on a device behind the modem. You must set up the Zoom X6 modem before entering any information sent by our DSL department into your computer.

  1. Follow the instructions provided with your Zoom modem to connect your Zoom modem to your computer and DSL line.

Your computer should be configured to obtain an IP address automatically from the modem. If you are using a Macintosh, select Configure Using: DHCP Server.
  2. Open a web browser and enter 10.0.0.2 in the Address Bar. You should receive a prompt to enter a username and password, unless you have already changed them. Enter "admin" for the username and "zoomadsl" for the password.
  3. Zoom login screen

  4. You should see a page similar to the following:
  5. Zoom X6 Transparent Bridge
  6. Set the Protocol drop-down menu to 1483 Bridged (Pure Bridge Mode).
  7. Set the Encapsulation drop-down menu to LLC.
  8. Enter 0 (that's the number zero) into the VPI box.
  9. Enter 35 into the VCI box if the modem will be using a Verizon DSL line. If the modem will be using a Qwest DSL line, enter 32 in that box.
  10. Hit the Save Changes button.
  11. Then, hit the Write Settings to Flash button.
  12. That's it! Assign the static IP address provided by SpiritOne to whatever device is behind the Zoom modem and you should have a live DSL connection.

What are People Saying about SpiritOne?

"SpiritOne has always worked well. I believe I've been a customer for almost 10 years, either dialup or DSL. Dealing with SpiritOne on the DSL side was far easier that Qwest. The SpiritOne/Aracnet technical support understands the digital age. Anyway, it has been a pleasure."
