I have been playing steel for 33+ years with local bands in Portland, Oregon. Over the years I have had the opportunity to guide many students in their quest to learn the steel.
For me blocking and tone are the most important elements of my playing.
I play a 1966 Emmons through a Fender Steel King.. I also use a George L cables everywhere. I use a chrome BJS bar and chrome .0225 Dunlop finger picks, with a blue thumb pick. For an effects unit I use a Boss VF-1.

Ring finger under style, used by many
